Today people are increasingly alienating from nature, which is seen as a commodity, a source of material wealth and profit, the satisfaction of hunting excitement or entertainment. The land is over-exploited in order to maximize yields. People have become callous in their treatment of domestic animals, conducting dubious experiments in genetic engineering. As a result, soils are depleted and native varieties and species are lost. Natural ecosystems are losing their ability to regenerate and restore. Cultural diversity is being lost everywhere, which means the loss of unique ways of life, languages, cultures - all aspects of the world's diversity.
The Biocultural Diversity Conservation (BCD) program aims to provide more information about the negative consequences of disconnection from Nature, to restore balance and harmony, to revive ancestral wisdom, and to seek more sustainable development. The preservation of BCD includes the revival of traditional culture and ecological knowledge, strengthening the ability to withstand natural disasters and human-caused crises.
